Facetime is now on my iMac!

Today my husband called me from his office (20 feet away from mine!) “Answer your phone! “ Well, maybe I am going to be scorched by microwaves, but every phone I owned was inches from my fingertips. “What do you mean?” I yelled back. “Oh. Mac just came out with Facetime for the computer and I thought I was dialing you.!” Well the trick is I have to go to the Mac App store and download it, which I did and there we were, 20 feet away, talking to each other through Facetime. (The picture I uploaded should have his pic in there because you can see both parties, but I already knew he would not agree to be in this pic–Heck, I shouldn’t have agreed to be in it, but having no models around, oh well.) The computer version of Facetime connects through your email address. You must sign up once you download the $.99 app. It was OK, but I am a Skype girl, where you can video conference 9 people.

Another great app for my iPhone Will vlogged about was Toon Camera, where you video tape and see yourself in cartoon mode. Here is is one made by Will:

What is “phishing” all about?

Have you ever received an email from yourself and been so frustrated because you can’t track it back to the person who sent it? Have you had friends call to say they received an email from you hawking Viagra, only to learn the phisher had invaded your email address book and sent the same thing to all of your friends? Have you ever changed your password, only to have it happen again? It’s time to learn more about Phishing (pronounced “fishing”) at “How Stuff Works.”

And just know that if you use iContact, Constant Contact, etc. for email campaigns, you too can Phish (but hopefully you will do it with permission.) I do it for my clients all the time. All you are doing is sending out an authorized e-Blast using their business email address. Scammers can do the same thing unauthorized, which means your password to your account has NOTHING to do with it. They are con artists and your friends are conned into thinking it is you so they open and click. Beware. Now go to How tStuff Works and learn!
